53BP1

p53-binding protein 1 (TP53BP1)

Anti-resection (NHEJ commitment)

p53-binding protein 1 (TP53BP1)

Antagonist of end resection, together with RIF1. In Brca1-deficient mouse cells, deleting 53BP1 restored homologous recombination; the authors attribute this to 53BP1 partially blocking resection. How 53BP1 recruitment inhibits extensive resection is not established. [1][2]
