End joining

DNA ligase IV – XRCC4

The XRCC4–DNA ligase IV complex ligates the ends in NHEJ; XRCC4 stimulates the ligase. Ends that need it are first cut by Artemis with DNA-PKcs, or receive nucleotides from polymerases μ and λ. Junctions often contain mutations, although ends can also be joined with no loss or addition. [1]

Interactions
XRCC4, DNA-PKcs
