Single-strand annealing deletions

Short entry. It states only what the cited sources say; it will grow as more sources are read.

Process or outcome

Single-strand annealing deletions

Annealing between direct repeats leaves a deletion with a single copy of the repeat. The XPF–ERCC1 complex cuts the remaining 3′ overhangs before ligation. Single-strand annealing is described as nonconservative and prone to deletions and translocations. [1][2]
