DNA double-strand break
Short entry. It states only what the cited sources say; it will grow as more sources are read.
Process or outcome
DNA double-strand break
The phosphate backbones of both complementary DNA strands are broken. Ionising radiation can cause such breaks, and so can drugs that inhibit topoisomerases, such as etoposide; breaks also form when the replication machinery meets a single-strand break or certain other lesions. [1][2]
