End resection

DNA2 nuclease–helicase with BLM helicase

The BLM helicase and the nuclease DNA2, acting as part of a complex, can also extend the 3′ tails created by MRN and CtIP. With purified proteins, other RecQ helicases could not substitute for BLM in the DNA2 reaction; in frog egg extracts the helicase is WRN. [1][2]
